Candlewood Suites Secaucus has been an active member of the Meadowlands Liberty Convention Visitors Bureau since 2009. Meadowlands Liberty Convention Visitors Bureau is a non-profit organization that focuses on the NJ economic growth through Tourism. Each year during National Tourism Week, this organization brings together members to volunteer their time to meet, organize and promote events through the region.
As a participant of the Tourism Advisory Council, I had the pleasure of assisting in this year’s event “Soap, Suds & Bubbly” being held on May 10th. This event is geared toward helping impoverished people by raising funds for Clean the World and collecting Soap. The organization is not-for-profit corporation that was founded in February 2009 by two individuals, Shawn Seipler and Paul Till. Their goal is to collect and recycle soap and shampoo products discarded by the hospitality industry every day. Through the distribution of these and other donated hygiene products to impoverished people, prevent the millions of deaths caused by hygiene-related illnesses every day. All soaps that we collect are sent to this foundation where it will undergo a sanitization process. The soap soaks in a sanitizing solution and is then treated with a steam/pressure combination. Clean the World then tests the soap’s pH level and cools it for packaging.
Candlewood Suites Secaucus Team was very enthusiastic and focused on collecting all we can for the soap drive. We collected so far 120 LB of used soap products that will be shipped along with collections made from the entire region and local community. A donation box has also been placed at the front desk for any guests that would like to participate in our efforts. The entire staff is motivated to make a difference, show their support, and even volunteer their time to help on the day of the event. I would like to personally Thank the entire staff for all they have done and do each day.. You Guys Rock!!!!
The event will be open to the public as a Cocktail Reception, Fundraiser, and Soap Drive. Committee will collect donations at the door, cash bar will be available, entertainment and raffle drawing will be held on items donated by local businesses in order to promote the region. Restaurants and Lounges will also show their support by donating $1 for each Bubbly Martini or Sud Beer Special sold during that specific week. The event is expected to be a great success.
